The basic subscription includes storage space for your files (One Drive), one mailbox (Exchange), one documentary portal (SharePoint), one videoconferencing application (Teams) and the Office desktop software. (Word,Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Your own domain name can be added for your mailboxes.
Your data is hosted in the Microsoft data-centers in Switzerland.
This product allows companies to dispose of a collaborative IT-environment which is operable in remote mode (home office).

We speak about users being able to work together. They can for example share the same files or use Teams to plan video-conferences and chat.  
The calendars can also be shared and consulted via Outlook or your smartphone.
The document portal is very useful for the digitization of your internal procedures.(Document approbation, check-lists, expense claim validation...).
It allows you to transform written procedures into a digital version.
"Co-Authoring" is also possible, which means that multiple users can work on a document at the same time.

Several measures must be taken when using Microsoft 365. As it is a cloud service, special attention has to be paid to the configuration of the service.

The first step of the securing process consists of setting up a double authentication (MFA) for all the users.  When connecting, the user will always have to prove his identity with a second authentication factor. (Login + password + confirmation on smartphone)
Other measures can also be added like for example:  
- The management of devices which access to your data
- An advanced mail service configuration
- The definition of the rules for document sharing
- The setup of the "Least Privilege" principle
